Out of cryofreeze

You awake on board of a space ship, in a locked room. Straight out of cryofreeze, not too sure on what has happend. Naturally, looking through the room, finding different puzzles. Most puzzles unlocks clues for the next one (or items needed for it), everything you would expect for an Escape Room game. The game consists of six different rooms, all tied in to the space craft we are on board. That being said, the game does not have much else of a space theme, not in the puzzles nor the story, really. There is a bit of a theme to every room, for example the Break Room has a chess puzzle, the infirmary has an anatomy puzzle.

The puzzles themself are not overly hard, and overall seems to be more or less the same difficulty – the game does not get progressively harder the more rooms you unlock. I had a few puzzles that gave me grief, but all in all it was not too hard. You do, however, need a pen and paper for a lot of the puzzles, which I enjoyed. The game is quite short, beatable in around two hours. In terms of story, it is very minimal. There is a bit of a story about a woman, who was killed. And you, the player, are trying to find an antidote. But besides that, there is not much else in regards of story.

Slow, slow puzzlesolver

To summarize, the gameplay of the game is a bit simplistic – the puzzles aren’t overly hard, and are “just” one puzzle after another (typical escape room). It could have been a bit more engaging and story-driven, but I was entertained none the less. The story was almost not there, and not really engaging. One thing that bothered me greatly was the movement speed in the game. You move very slowly, and have no way of running, or atleast speeding up. It would probably cut down on a bit of the game time, but would have been an appreciated addition.

The graphics are fine, the game looks interesting although it could have been a bit more detailed. The skybox outside the spaceship, however, was a bit dreadful looking. But it did it’s job, and was not bad at all. The music score was forgettable, and nothing to write home about. If you are looking for a quick escape room game to play through this should be up your alley – just not expect anything extravagant. It has some cool puzzles here and there, and I would recommend it for the people who enjoys these kind of games.
