After escaping you are left helping the citizens of the town with fixing the mischief the three robot gangsters has been up to.
When finally finding the robot gang our robot hero floods their room where the three robots are playing poker, ending up flushing them out. Here, we discover our girlfriend has been taken capture, forced to cook for the robot gang. Going up to the tower we disarm the bomb and spoils their evil plot. Inside the highest room in the tower sits a robot with a giant head, obviously gone crazy. We restore his saniy and climbs back down the tower, flying in to the sunset.
When playing Machinarium you might be faced with a couple of harder puzzles. The game is not easy, and might give you a headache. If you can get past this there is a great game ahead of you. The story is neat, and the way it is told is refreshing. There is no speech in the game – the closest to it is through thought and speech bubbles with images. That, and the sound effects. These effects works very well, and are well done. Combined with a great soundtrack that is very fitting to the game play.
Another big plus for the game is the art style. It is unique and looks amazing. Capturing the true steampunk vibe with a grimy, rusty world of robotics looking like it is falling apart. Machinarium creates a world void of humans, that feels like it has been a long, long time since they existed. In every scene there is plenty to look at, and the dark, rusty textures and color scheme really nails the atmosphere of the game.
All in all Machinarium is a hard game, but a good one. The art style is amazing, the soundtrack is good and the atmosphere of the game is spot on. With it’s hand-drawn art style you certainly are gonna find yourself immersed in the world in no time!
