Hi Sire. Case closed.
Hotel Collectors Edition is one of those run-of-the-mill Point and Click games. There really is nothing special to say about it. It’s a short game, just under two hours, about a detective who is called to do a job at a french hotel. You are there ordered by the NYPD to search for a lost necklace. You are met by a rude officer who does not want any help.
You are on your’re own, searching through the hotel. You complete various puzzles, find hidden objects etc. In the process you uncover a plot by an ancient Egyptian cult, who is searching for an almighty artifact. On this journey you run in to heroes of old such as Marcus Antonious, King Arthur and Cleopatra who is trying to hide the artifact, and make sure it does not end up in the hands of an evildoer. Playing as Detective Bridget Brightstone it is your job to uncover the mystery, discover the supernatural and help save the world from the evil cult.
The game’s graphics is nothing to write home about, especially not from 2010 standards. The gameplay is uninspiring, the puzzles are pretty basic and boring. On a positive side, the music is alright although sometimes a bit unfitting for what is happening in the game. Strangely, the cutscenes are fully voiced, but interacting with characters throughout the game is met with textboxes.
The story itself is weird and lacking in depth. Worst of all is the ending of the game – it is both unintentionally silly and truly visually hideous. There really isn’t much more to say about Hotel Collectors Edition. It is bland, boring and not really worth the time.
